The short version
Trax is a client for self-hosted media servers. The app connects only to a server that you choose and type in — typically one run by you, your family, or a friend. We, the app's developer, operate no data collection of any kind: no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs that phone home. The app sends data to exactly one place — the server you pointed it at.
What the app stores on your device
- Your server address — so the app knows where to connect.
- A device sign-in token — issued by your server when you sign in, so you don't re-enter your password. It identifies this device to your server and can be revoked from the server at any time.
Signing out or uninstalling the app removes this. Nothing is stored elsewhere on our behalf.
What the app sends to your chosen server
- Sign-in credentials (username and password, or a one-time link code) — to authenticate you with that server.
- Playback activity — watch progress, play/pause state, and selected audio track, so your server can resume where you left off and show your household's Continue Watching.
- Basic device info — a device name (e.g. "Shield TV") and the app version, so your server's device list is readable and revocable.
All of this lives on the server you chose, under the control of whoever runs it. If someone else runs your server, your account, viewing history, and their deletion are governed by that operator — ask them. We never see it.
What we collect
Nothing. The developer receives no data from the app — no accounts, no telemetry, no crash reports, no usage statistics. If Google Play collects install or crash statistics from your device, that collection is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours; we did not add any of our own.
Children
Trax is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. What a given household's children can watch is controlled by that household's server settings (per-account libraries and rating ceilings), not by us.
Security
Connections use HTTPS whenever the server offers it. Media streams are authorized with signed, expiring URLs; API calls use your device token. Server operators can revoke any device's access at any time.
Account deletion
Accounts belong to the server you use, not to us. To delete your account and its viewing history, contact the operator of that server — for most users, that's the family member who invited you. Deleting the app from your device removes everything the app stored locally.
